The
Black Powder Replacement
Revolution!
Finally,
there is a new black powder substitute
that is, in my opinion, better that what
is out in the marketplace now or that has
ever been out in the marketplace.
It's so good, in fact, that for the first
time in 15 years, I'm switching
brands! I've only recently
discovered this new wonder powder made by
American Pioneer Powder, Inc. In my
first tests with this powder, it appeared
to not only be much cleaner than any other
brand of power, but was also as accurate
as any powder I've used before, and just
as powerful.
I
was first exposed to American Pioneer
Powder while down in Salt Lake City, doing
seminars at the International Sportsmen's
Expositions in the Spring of 2004.
The two head honchos, Brett Epstein and
Mark Griesbach, from American Pioneer
Powder, flew in from the east to
demonstrate to me, in person, what they
believe is the ultimate black powder
substitute. They were convinced, and
it wasn't long before I was, too.
They loaded and shot, loaded and shot,
loaded and shot for what seemed like
forever. Not once did they stop to
swab the barrel of the muzzleloader, and
yet there was no appreciable loss in the
accuracy department!

Positive
that the barrel had to be fouled, I waited
patiently for the shooting part of the
demonstration to end. I wanted to
see how much crud where had to be gumming
up the barrel. Unbelievably, when
they ran a swab through the gun, it came
out with only the lightest of a whitish
film. They took the muzzleloader
apart and let me look down the
barrel. Clean as a whistle!
The accuracy didn't suffer, and by all
accounts, the new powder chronographs at
very nearly the energies of the top
propellants in the industry. It
comes in loose powder or compressed form
(Sticks), and anyone who hunts with a
muzzleloader should contact the good
people of American Pioneer Powder, Inc. at
